Athlete of the Quarter: Elizabeth Hons
Occupation: Registered Nurse- Med/Surg Oncology
Favorite Lift/Movement: Used to be squats.. but I think deadlift is my favorite now.
How long have you been doing CrossFit? Cameron and I started CrossFit in March of 2017, so almost two years!
How did you find CrossFit? We started looking into Crossfit gyms near our house - this was the first one we went to and liked it so much decided to stick with it.
What is your athletic background? In Highschool, soccer was my main sport but I also ran cross country and track. I played one year of Division 2 soccer, but after that got burnt out on working out.
How has CrossFit changed your lifestyle and level of fitness? I got my passion for working out again. Crossfit programs a lot of things I was used to from soccer, but then still I have learned a lot also. I really feel healthier and stronger than I ever have. I pay more attention to what I eat (thanks to Rachael!) and have starting looking for other ways to challenge myself.
What is your proudest fitness achievement? After accomplishing so many new things in Crossfit, and getting to RX workouts - I challenged myself to run a marathon! It had always been on my bucket list of things to do. I felt great during the run and was really proud of my time 4:25!
What are your fitness goals for 2019? My husband and I have signed up for Spartan races. I would like to complete those and maybe find a new challenge to tackle.
